Food Handling Agency Grant Opportunity

Posted by Katie Savoie on

In the past, there have been two different years where Community Harvest was able to obtain funding in order to pass substantial grants on to agency partners. In 2016, the food bank was given the opportunity to purchase equipment, and in 2020, we had another grant cycle where funding was given to aid in purchasing equipment, supplies, and food to 60 different member agencies who applied.

We're proud to announce that there is a new equipment grant available through Community Harvest Food Bank, and agencies are welcome to apply.

The spirit of this grant is to help an agency increase capacity to (1) expand hours, (2), increase capacity, and/or (3) expand service to more people. We have created a list of equipment based on feedback we've received and we are passing along a simple equipment grant application.

In order to apply, an agency must meet all of these conditions:

  • You must be a current, active member agency up to date on member agency registration and food safety requirements
  • You must be in good standing with no outstanding balances on your account
  • You must be up to date with your monthly surveys
  • The application must be completed by a director, pastor, or equivalent

Deadline: Submissions are due no later than October 10, 2025. Please submit the completed form linked below. You will receive a copy of your submission to the email you provided on the application.

By completing the grant application, you will also be agreeing to the following:

  1. You will keep a copy of this grant agreement and application for your records. You agree to comply with the terms of the grant agreement and any restrictions and requirements laid out in this application and/or your award communication.
  2. If awarded equipment, you agree that all equipment will be used in accordance with your application program/project as stated.
  3. If awarded equipment, you agree that a final report will be submitted to us no later than December 15, 2025 on use of equipment, and results of capacity increase on service, hours, and/or distribution.
  4. If awarded equipment, you agree that future repairs, warranty, maintenance, and upkeep are the responsibility of your agency.
  5. You agree that all items received will be used for the purposes outlined in your grant proposal, for the benefit of your agency and the clients served by your agency.
  6. Items received through this grant shall not be sold, traded, moved to another address, or given away without the permission from Community Harvest Food Bank.
  7. You agree to accept Community Harvest and funder branding in the form of logos on the equipment received. This branding should not be removed or modified. No other branding should be added except that of your agency.
  8. If the agency fails to submit a final report by December 15, 2025, it agrees to return awarded items (or full replacement cost) to Community Harvest Food Bank no later than December 31, 2025. Note: The final report will be simplified and similar in layout to this application.
  9. Publicity requirement - Community Harvest will hold a publicity event once all items are purchased. This media event will be held at the food bank facility in Fort Wayne and more information will follow. Agencies receiving equipment are required to attend the media event, submit a quote for media, and all items will be available for removal immediately following the media event. Agencies may pick up items from our warehouse the same day. If other arrangements need to be made, please contact Agency Services.
